Sodium Hypochlorite Tank

Sodium hypochlorite tanks are corrosion-resistant storage tanks specifically designed for storing sodium hypochlorite solutions. Sodium hypochlorite is a strong oxidizing and corrosive substance that decomposes easily (decomposition is accelerated by light, high temperatures, and acidic environments). Therefore, the tanks must meet the core requirements of resistance to oxidation and corrosion, protection from light, and leak prevention.

  • Oxidation and Corrosion Resistance: The material must withstand the strong oxidizing properties of sodium hypochlorite to prevent pitting and cracking of the tank walls.
  • Temperature Control: The recommended storage temperature is 0-40℃. High temperatures accelerate the decomposition of sodium hypochlorite, reducing the available chlorine content.
  • Safety and Stability: The tank must be able to withstand negative pressure (to prevent the tank from collapsing during emptying). Large tanks require hydrostatic and airtightness tests.

Selection and Usage Considerations

  • Define Solution Specifications: Available chlorine concentration, temperature, and whether it contains other impurities (such as alkali content). Higher concentrations place more stringent requirements on the material; higher temperatures accelerate decomposition.

  • Determine the Installation Environment: Indoor/Outdoor? Above Ground/Underground? Highest/Lowest Ambient Temperature? This determines the material selection (UV resistance, pressure/external pressure resistance) and whether insulation is required.
  • Avoid contamination sources: Acids, ammonium salts, organic matter, and heavy metal ions are strictly prohibited from mixing into the system.

  • Upstream and downstream equipment such as dosing pumps and pipelines must also be material-compatible.
  • Regular inspection and maintenance: Regularly test the available chlorine content and assess decomposition.
  • Inspect the tank, breather valve, and seals for aging.
  • Clean any small amounts of sediment (such as calcium carbonate) that may accumulate at the bottom of the tank.
